You're Missing Out on This Trick Where Customers Are 82.4% More Likely to Shop

A recent survey done by Technology Advice show results to the power and results of consumer loyalty programs.

Respondents said that they would be 82.4% "more likely" to shop at stores that offered loyalty programs, compared to 17.6% of respondents who are "less likely" to do so.

Businesses that ignore this may in turn forfeit on this consumer demographic.

Although card-based loyalty programs are the tried-and-true marketing tactic that have been around for years, there has been a sudden shift in industry indicating a transformation to meet the digital age and rise of smartphones.

Malaysia has seen a strong 140% mobile phone penetration rate and this gives opportunity to further distribute a cost-effective multi-channel marketing program through SMS Delivery.

The survey further adds that based on the responses that were collected and analyzed consumers are not only open to, but welcoming of such efforts. While consumers remain uncertain of fully-digital reward programs (decidedly against social rewards), but there is a widespread desire for both smartphone apps and exclusive incentives.

How to take advantage of SMS Delivery to monetize on this opportunity?

Exclusive incentive as mentioned above is one of many innovative measures that your business could undertake to further provide incentives to consumers to participate actively with a responsive business that makes effort to provide to loyal customers rewards.

Take advantage of exclusive access to VIP Status instant notification feature

Consumers desire VIP status perks more so than social-based-rewards.

This can be very encouraging for businesses which have already installed loyalty programs based around rewards and perks. There is an incentive to save money overall, but they show strong preference for VIP-style incentives, and given the data according to Technology Advice businesses should consider a "tiered" or level-based system.

Don't Lose Customers With This Secret Method From Uber

Problem

Uber has generated a lot of media attention of late and it seems to be a growing trend to have almost everyone using the Uber mobile app to move around the city. In some cities like Seattle you can order lunch from within the Uber app.

This was all good until the company realized that there was a big problem for its ever popular feature UberEATS as there is a large group of people that ordered food from outside of the app and with every meal that isn't being on the app represents lost opportunity for the company.

Solution to the problem

The solution... SMS Marketing! Uber sends text messages to users that have opted-in not only to remind them that the app is on their mobile device, but to also let them know what is on the menu for the day. The SMS Marketing campaign started when Uber prompted its users to subscribe via text message.

Character limitation isn't the end of the world

Although it is widely known that an SMS message, which is limited to 160 characters of text (including hyperlinks) gives the sender a limitation to what can be sent. This problem can be solved by sending messages through MMS marketing by including an image as part of the message sent.

Alternative to Uber: Peach Case Study

The likelihood of implementing an application that has steep initial cost requirements can be a major stumbling block for the majority of small and medium firms in Malaysia, but there is a way to overcome this.

For example: Peach (a restaurant also in Seattle) uses MMS, but unlike UberEATS where you click through to open the app and place your order, Peach allows you to simply reply "YES" (a MO Keyword) via text message to place your oder. Included in the message is a link that shows more information about the dish prompting the user to proceed to the mobile web to find out more.

Conclusion

It is increasingly common for mobile apps to use text message marketing to increase app downloads, especially when there is a 92% conversion rate, it is rare to see text message marketing used to keep users engaged outside of the app. This could be a "break the status quo" innovation in exploring different communication channels that would best serve your businesses consumer demographic needs.

7 Tricks to Attract Readers to Your Business Blog

Your business blog is a goldmine, and it's something that most small businesses in Malaysia fail to take advantage off. 409 million people read blogs every month. About 5 million views per blog per month.

It's something you own and you manage, and that's priceless.

Take Facebook for example, the company is able to reject any content that you've taken sleepless nights to produce at their own discretion without any reason, but your blog is a space that you control. That means you decide what gets published and what stays unpublished.

The major factor holding your blog from exponentially performing for you is the audience you can gather. You need to share into the goldmine of blog views.

Learn 7 hints on how you can put together an out of this world strategy to build your small business blog as a go-to place for your audience.

1. Blog consistently

Don't glut. You shouldn't blog in streaks. For example, if you post four articles and nothing for the next 2 months, your blog will go stale.

The more consistently you blog, the better your blog will be. You might consider establishing a posting schedule for consistency.  Here are some great ideas for content.

This doesn't mean that you need to devote all of your time to writing blog articles, but it is suggested that you set some time aside to blogging because it is beneficial to growing your business.

2. Conduct keyword research

It goes without saying that knowing what information people are searching for will increase your chances of your blog appearing as a thought leader. Remember, your goal is to tap into the possible 5 million viewers on the Internet already.

Incorporate keywords into your article title and interlace them throughout your blog posts. The objective is to give your blog post a better chance of ranking on search (so that people can find them easily).

3. Aim for optimized blog lengths

Articles should have quality and be detailed. Longer blog posts rank best in search.

You want your blog posts to be long enough that they can adequately deliver information to your readers.

4. Incorporate visuals

As we dive deep into the technical aspects of ensuring your blog is discovered, we often forget that in the end readers are human, and the importance of visuals should not be overlooked, because visuals help people remember better.

5. Address questions from customers

If you are facing writers block (running thin on ideas on topics you can think to write about) a great source of information is from your customers. You can tackle common questions that they have about your product / service.

Answering these questions builds trust and helps to stem doubt at the beginning when your customers first get to know your brand.

6. Invite guest contributors.

A great way to give variety on your content to your potential customers is to invite guest contributors. These can be thought leaders in an industry.

This will further solidify your blog as a place where industry expertise can be found.

7. Do a roundup of news

A great way to keep readers / customers glued to your blog is to round up and publish a monthly / weekly summary. You can include top articles your audience has been interested in the past month and summaries them.

At Everworks we help Malaysian businesses do their best on the Internet without worrying about the technical hassle and hardware costs. Learn about the options available and great deals here.

5 Business Gift Ideas That Will Keep Your Business Top of Mind (All Year)

In line with the Chinese New Year festivities, this represents a great opportunity for your business to stay top of mind all year round. When it comes to choices, there are plenty and that doesn't end when they sign a contract with you. Customer retention is crucial to any small business in Malaysia that seeks continuous growth.

Here's the big question that most small businesses in Malaysia ask. How do you combat churn and show your customers just how much you care about their business?

Here are 3 best practices to get you started and can be a general rule of thumb whenever you're out trying to look for a perfect gift.

  1. Personalise your gifts: Don't order the same gifts for all of your clients. Some don't like coffee, others love chocolate. Consider your champion customer's likes and hobbies and source a gift that will be meaningful to them.
  2. Don't over do it: Corporate gifting shouldn't be over the top, it should be a token of appreciation. There is a fine line here, as this could be misinterpreted as bribery, even if the initial intention isn't there.
  3. Think outside the holidays: Don't relate gifts to the holiday season. Send tokens of appreciation through the year.

With the basics sorted, we'll go through some 5 amazing corporate gifts ideas that you can gift to your customer this year below!

1. Professional Notebooks

I don't suggest you send clients a stack of company-branded post-its. Have a nice leather-bound notebooks created in your company colors or with a subtle logo printed on the front cover.

2. Coffee Table Book

Look for books that relate to your client's city, state, industry, or personal interests. A book they'll proudly display on their desk or in the office sitting area will serve as a conversation piece for years to come -- and so will your name if you include a personalized message inside.

3. Calendars

Have company-branded calendars created by experts or source independent artists at Art Fairs like RIUH for unique calendars clients won't find at their next industry conference.

4. Portable phone charger

Portable phone charges make a great gift for customers that are always on-the-go.

5. Custom golf balls & tees

If your customers conduct most of their business on the golf course (or if this is their hobby), consider custom balls or tees branded with your logo.
